Hopper was an artist, director, actor and filmmaker. Although he began his life in film, he became quite an acclaimed photographer, a passion that began in the 1060's. His media then branched out into painting and sculpture in varying styles from abstract impressionism to photorealism often with references to his film work and to other artists. It has been announced that Hopper's work will be a focus of Jeffrey Deitch's inaugural exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. Hopper was also an important collector of contemporary art.
