Kahn is an American painter and pastel artist who works in a combination of realism and Color Field. His works tend to surround the subject of landscapes and nature. His convergence of light and color has been described as combining pictorial landscapes and painterly abstraction. He was studied under the abstract expressionist Hans Hofmann and later became his studio assistant. According to some, his work has "Rothko's sweeping bands of color, and the atmospheric qualities of American Impressionism".
